Freeman Gosden and Charles Correll made their radio debut January 12, 1926, while the comedic, blackface character types Sam ‘n’ Henry. On March 19, 1928 they launched Amos ‘n’ Andy, which continued to become probably one of the most popular and longest running programs in radio background. During the height of its popularity, nearly the entire country listened to the 15-minute, Monday through Friday journeys of Amos ‘n’ Andy. Shops open at night piped in the broadcasts, so customers wouldn’t about Amos n’ Andy Show, Collection 2 miss an episode; concert halls planned their features to get rid of before the beginning of Amos ‘n’ Andy therefore they as well could pipe it in. The individuals were members of The Mystic Knights of the ocean Lodge, which George Stevens was ‘The Kingfish.’ Amos ‘n’ Andy ran the Fresh-Air Taxi Company, using the even more stable, married Amos doing most of the function while Andy chased young ladies. One of the best-remembered sequences was the time Andy nearly wedded Madame Queen. In 1943, after 4,091 quarter-hour shows, it switched to a half-hour every week comedy. While the five-a-week present often acquired a silent, easygoing feeling, the brand new edition was a brassy Hollywood-style creation, complete with studio room audience, full cast of supporting actors and full orchestra. Many of the half-hour applications were compiled by Joe Connelly and Bob Mosher, later on the writing group for Leave It to Beaver as well as the Munsters.
