Since Martin Banks and his fellow computer geeks found that reality is only a computer program to become happily hacked, they’ve been jaunting backwards and forwards through time, posing as medieval wizards and having the epic travels that other nerds can only dream of having. But actually in their wildest fantasies, they under no circumstances expected to turn out at the mercy of the previous apprentice whom they sent to jail for gross misuse of magic and all-around bad behavior. Who understood how the vengeful Todd would get away, then conjure a video game packed with wolves, wenches, wastelands, and assorted harrowing hazards-and trap his hapless previous friends inside it? Stripped of their magic forces, the would-be wizards must fearless terrifying dangers, technical glitches, and one another’s organization if they wish to observe Medieval England-and their favorite sci-fi movies on VHS-ever again. Can our heroes survive this marvelous secret torture? Or will it only lead them and their pointy hats into even more peril?
