Rome is a town divided, nobility and common-people locked in mutual suspicion. The patrician Caius Marcius, afterwards called Coriolanus, is certainly Rome’s greatest soldier, but his very pleased refusal to support himself towards the demands of the plebeians qualified prospects to banishment and loss of life.

A Roman history aswell as tragedy, Coriolanus is a complex and subtle exploration of the themes of absolution and compromise, both in the political world and in the life of the average person.
