I actually wrote this book for my children to read with their kids, as entertainment primarily, but also a way to teach new words and concepts. It isn’t written in childish vocabulary, and is very much indeed intended to be a distributed, encounter between adult and about Crying Trees and shrubs child. I used to make up tales to show my kids at bedtime, and was surprised how the personas stuck with them into adulthood. They keep in mind the names much better than I do! I wanted to create that bedtime enjoyment in a manner that could become distributed to next years of my children, but the response has been so strong which i now want to talk about it with various other parents & children, and grand parents and grand kids. This isn’t a tale that was mapped out or layed out. As with the plays that I write, I created character types and then implemented them where they had taken me. The effect was a particular tale that winds through a forest, with particular friends learning how exactly to communicate and cope with surprising difficulties.
