Summary:

Katy Manning reads this first adventure featuring the Third Doctor and Jo Grant, set in the First World War.

‘Somewhere with this hospital there is a man, or a woman, that has been possessed from the uncooked energy of time.”

The year is 1914, and the Great War is merely getting started. Within a field medical center in Ypres, Belgium, Nurse Annie Grantham receives two visitors: a recognized doctor and his administrative helper, Miss Give. They have many queries to talk to of Annie, and of her distressed about Doctor Who: Horrors of War: 3rd Doctor Audio Original and wounded charges.

The Doctor is returning to a scenario he encountered way back when: a version from the First World War where in fact the Archduke Ferdinand wasn’t murdered, resulting in changes all along the subsequent timeline. He today suspects that someone is at large in 1914, intervening in events with some unidentified purpose.

What force is leading to wounded soldiers to disappear into the night time? Does the response to the mystery lie in Sarajevo, half a year earlier, on the scene of this assassination attempt? With the help of the TARDIS, the Doctor and his close friends are about to find out.

Katy Manning, who played Jo in the BBC Television series, reads this interesting new tale by Justin Richards.
