The TARDIS makes a hazardous return to 1960s Earth – materialising on a runway at Gatwick Airport! THE PHYSICIAN and his close friends realise that all is not well when Polly witnesses a murder, and then both she and Ben vanish. The government bodies refuse to take the matter seriously – however when Polly reappears, why does she claim never to recognise her friends? Along with the plucky Samantha Briggs, and about Doctor Who: The Faceless Types (TV Soundtrack) helped and hindered by Inspector Crossland of Scotland Backyard and the airport terminal Commandant, the physician and Jamie piece together a number of clues.

A sequence of mysterious events seems to centre around Chameleon Tours, whose bundle holidays are designed to entice young people to international shores. Just how far-flung will be the horizons they offer, and just why are none of their people returning? Who are the faceless types, and what hideously deformed creatures get excited about the operations being conducted at the airport terminal medical center? The Doctor feels that there’s a connection between Chameleon Tours and the odd behaviour of essential airport terminal personnel – however in seeking to verify his theory, and save Ben and Polly, he becomes embroiled within a story to steal the identities of a large number of young people.
