As the recently appointed Lord Protector for Windfall and Mage Apprentice to the Wizard King of Great Vale, Alex Rogers had taken the part of an eternity. Combined with his pending marriage towards the half-nymph Lady Cassandra, he had even more on his plate than he could ever desire to accomplish any time in the future.

However, a note intended for the dead Prince Renfeld, one exposing a dastardly plot, had been dropped in his hands. It had been a plot relating to the kidnapping of the sister of the Ruler of Great Vale, and it leaves Alex no choice but to depart for international lands over the Western Ocean.
