As traveling salesman Gregor Samsa awoke one morning hours from uneasy dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into a gigantic insect. He was lying on his hard, as it had been armor-plated, back and when he lifted his head a little he could discover his domelike brown belly split into stiff arched sections together with which the bed quilt could not stay static in place and was about to slide off totally. His numerous legs, that have been pitifully thin set alongside the rest of his mass, waved helplessly before his eye.
