After mystery author Diane Christie loses her husband to suicide, she and her son proceed to the small coastal town of Fog Harbor, Massachusetts. Her daughter is attending university nearby, and Diane expectations that her family can now begin to heal. But rebuilding their lives following the tragedy isn’t therefore simple.

Diane’s depressed college-age daughter, Alexa, still avoids her, critical of everything Diane does, as well as her generally amiable teenage kid, Josh, offers started performing out. Diane pushes forwards, focusing on her composing and her volunteer just work at a local turmoil hotline. She understands that healing does take time.

But then a girl from Alexa’s university is available strangled. Even worse still, the murderer uses the turmoil hotline to confess to Diane . and statements she is the only person who can end the killing. And when the shine of new appreciate from a stylish admirer starts to chase aside some of the darkness, even more girls turn up deceased, and Diane races to solve a secret she worries will strike terrifyingly near home.
